As Santi Cazorla’s contract runs down while Jack Wilshere is out on loan at Bournemouth, it’s starting to look as if Arsenal might not keep both.

Santi is yet to be offered a new contract, much to most Gooners’ dismay considering he’s the linchpin in our side and without him out entire attack suffers.

The midfielder is 31 but still has more than a few good years in him, despite being injury prone.

Meanwhile, we have Jack with the Cherries, looking as if he may never return to north London unless we can promise him the game time he’s getting while away.

The 24-year-old’s contract runs out in 2018.

As time goes on, it feels less likely that we’re going to offer Santi a new deal, while Arsene Wenger recently confirmed that we were going to offer Jack one. To me, this suggests that we’re willing to let Santi leave in order to keep Jack.

But should we?

Both are injury prone but while Santi’s older and Jack’s a player for the future, I feel as if we’d be making a mistake by letting our little Spaniard leave. Especially on a free transfer.

Cazorla is a massively talented midfielder, the most two-footed player in the squad and a ray of sunshine at a club that, at times, really needs it.

On one hand, I can totally understand how Jack is the long-term choice. I just hope we haven’t seen the last of Santi for Arsenal.
