Lucas Perez has been over in Spain recovering from his ankle injury with former club, Deportivo, but it seems he’s now heading home.

The forward signed for Arsenal for a reported £17m and struggled with getting regular game time for a while. Unfortunately, just as he appeared to be getting more minutes, his ankle was injured by a ridiculous challenge during our EFL Cup match against Reading.

“The injury is a shame, but we have to fight,” Lucas said to Marca at the time.

“I didn’t understand where the player was going with the tackle, but these are just occupational hazards.”

The 28-year-old has been recovering well with him saying only recently that he’s actually ahead of schedule.

While over in Spain with his former club, Lucas had time to socialise with his former teammates. One, centreback Nacho Monsalve, even took a picture with him.

Monsalve is in the Deportivo B team and only joined in April so, to be honest, he doesn’t really count as a former teammate but the fact that the 22-year-old seems so happy to take a picture with Lucas is rather heartwarming.

The caption translates as:

“This week we had a great visit. It is always a pleasure to have you for Abegondo, recover soon Lucas!”

Lucas thanked him afterwards.

Sounds like Lucas is on his way home!
