Lucas Perez has returned to Deportivo to continue his recovery from the ankle injury he picked up against Reading in the EFL Cup.

The player, who has returned home to spend time with his friends and family as he recovers, will also be treated at his former club.

A statement on the Depor website said, “According to the plans of the English club’s medical services, in communication with the medical services of Deportivo, the forward will use the facilities during the next few days.”

Diagnosed with ankle ligament damage thanks to that Reading lump’s careless challenge, Arsenal are hoping to have Lucas back before the end of the calendar year.

Since signing for Arsenal in the summer, Lucas has the following stats:

  • 6 games
  • 2 starts
  • 277 minutes played
  • 2 goals
  • 3 assists
  • Goal or assist every 55.4 minutes

He signed a three-year contract after Arsenal paid £17m for the player who scored 19 goals and grabbed 11 assists in 39 games last season.
