Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Lucas is fit and will be included in the squad to face Southampton on Wednesday night.

Returning from an ankle injury picked up in the last round against Reading, this is great news, especially with Giroud picking up a hamstring problem at the weekend and Alexis not having had a rest since since the 20th century.

He also confirmed that Mathieu Debuchy had a scan today, but they do not have the results.

Judging by how distraught he was and how concerned both Wenger and Giroud were when they spoke to the French media, it’s not expected to be good news.

Wenger described the French man as ‘totally broken’ while Giroud’s comments were also quite concerning.

“Mathieu has a scan today [Tuesday] but we don’t have the results yet,” Arsène Wenger told Arsenal.com.

“Lucas is in the squad and will will have a mixture of youth and experience, but still 90 per cent of the first-team squad.”
