Liverpool are reportedly willing to pay the €40m+ Torino want for Andrea Belotti, while Arsenal were only prepared to offer €35m in the summer.

According to the Italian press, Arsenal were heavily interested in the striker in the summer but were unwilling to meet the Serie A club’s €40m+ asking price. In fact, we were only willing to offe €35m. Well, this season he’s scored eight goals and assisted four in the Italian league, so his price is set to climb higher.

Liverpool are reportedly willing to fork out in order to bring the 22-year-old to Merseyside.

Belotti’s contract with Torino doesn’t run out until 2020 so the Italian club can afford to buy their time and get the deal they see fit, if they’re even prepared to sell him at all. However, with Torino currently sitting in seventh in the Serie A table and Belotti having scored almost a third of the goals, the decision may fall to him.

Would we spend more than Liverpool on a young striker? I doubt it.

However, I do think our movement in the next transfer window depends on if Alexis signs a contract extension with Arsenal soon or not. Even then, is Belotti really the right replacement?

I don’t think so.
