Now for some completely unexpected but very welcome gossip.

Laurent Koscielny’s contract with Arsenal doesn’t run out until 2019 but, according to a report in L’Equipe [via Sport Witness], the centreback has extended it until 2020.

The former Lorient defender signed for Arsenal back in 2010, which means, if the reports are true, he’ll be with Arsenal a decade. It could take him up to the age of 35 meaning that he’ll have spent the best portion of his career in north London and could very well end it there.

What a guy.

The new contract apparently makes him one of the highest earning players at Arsenal, along with Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, but given his age, how long he’s been at the club and overall importance, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with this.

The France international has completed a whopping 22,410 minutes for the Gunners. 262 appearances. 22 goals.

I, for one, will be absolutely delighted if Koscielny has indeed signed a new contract with us.
