Following Arsenal’s frustrating 2-2 draw against PSG midweek, Carl Jenkinson managed to get in a little dig at our north London rivals.

Spurs failed to make the final 16 of the Champions League this season after losing 2-1 to Monaco. The third loss of their European campaign leaves them down in third place in Group E, unable to make the top two with just one game left.

Although Arsenal qualified for the final 16 against Ludogorets, finishing our group above PSG would be handy going forward but this is no easy task.

Speaking post-match, Carl Jenkinson, who didn’t have the best match at rightback against the Ligue 1 club, explained how difficult it is just to qualify, using Spurs as an example.

“Getting to the last 16 is not the easiest thing in the world to do,” said Jenkinson.

“Tottenham have obviously seen that and we have done well to get to this point.

“We have held our own and are joint top. The only thing that is holding us back is the head to head rule, which is frustrating when you look at our goal difference and it counts for nothing.

“The rule is very frustrating, I’m not a fan of that. But it is what it is, we are through to the last 16 and all we can do is go to Basel and have a go there and hope things pan out well for us.

“If they don’t we are through to the last 16 anyway and you never know who you are going to get drawn against.”

Jenks is a Gunner through and through. The guy just can’t pass up an opportunity to rile up our rivals and although he may not be the best player, no one can fault his passion for the club.

While Hector Bellerin is out with an ankle injury, hopefully Jenks can begin to improve and become a decent second option.
