After failing to land Mathieu Debuchy in the summer, Galatasaray are reportedly set to return for the Frenchman.

The 31-year-old, who returned from goodness knows where to play (and score) for Arsenal’s u23s against Tottenham at the end of last week, has been unhappy with his position in north London.

Last season, the right-back made just seven appearances for Arsenal before going out on loan to Ligue 1 club, Bordeaux, and getting injured, scuppering his chances of being called up for Euro 2016.

Although there were reports from several European clubs, such as Galatasaray, wanting to sign Debuchy permanently in the summer, apparently Arsenal were asking for too much money. His contract with us doesn’t run out until 2019 so I guess we’ve got nothing to lose by holding out since we’re not desperate.

However, now that Carl Jenkinson has returned from his lengthy layoff, Debuchy’s even less likely to get match time and, to be honest, he’s just taking up wages.

Gala seem keen, if reports are to be believed, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they make a January move.
