SFR Sport spoke with Arsene Wenger and Olivier Giroud after Arsenal’s win against Bournemouth and the manager revealed that Mathieu Debuchy is ‘totally broken’.

Debuchy was substituted after only 16 minutes of his first Premier League game for Arsenal in a year and fears the worst about his hamstring injury.

Speaking to the French press, Giroud said, “I am so sad for him, because he is a player that I appreciate, but besides this, he is a good guy and a friend.

“I hope he will come back quickly, and stronger, but it is starting to be a little bit too much for him.”

Then the Arsenal manager gave his view.

“Everybody (in the coaching staff) agreed that he was ready to play. I think he started the game playing superbly well.

“We are all so sad for him. Obviously, he feels totally broken.”

The manager is a bit lost for words in the video and there is clear sadness for Mathieu, knowing how much work has been put by the defender during his previous rehab stints.

“I don’t know what to say really,” Wenger added.

“Everyone is gathering around him in the dressing room to support him.

“He keeps getting  injured and it is a hard pill to swallow for him.

“Every time, he has worked extremely hard to come back.

“He has done everything the right way, he is a player with an exceptional work ethic.”
