Eduardo da Silva reasonably gave an interview with a Croatian weekly sports publication called Max in which he spoke about how much Arsene Wenger fascinated him while at Arsenal.

Over the three years that Dudu was at Arsenal, he managed to scored 20 and assist 18 goals in just 67 appearances. He had just hit his stride when he suffered that horrific leg break after being tackled by Birmingham’s Martin Taylor.

He never really found his form again and when we sold him to Shakhtar Donetsk in 2010, it was a sad moment.

When Dudu returned to the Emirates with Shakhtar for their Champions League game later that year, he received a standing ovation both when he walked onto the pitch and when he scored a consolation goal so that the final scoreline was 5-1.

The 33-year-old still has as a firm bond with Arsenal fans, often interacting with them on social media, and still speaks highly of Arsene Wenger.

Speaking to the Croatian press, the international said:

“I had some great coaches, but Arsene Wenger fascinated me the most!

“He is a real football philosopher, paying attention to every detail, from dressing style, behaviour, to working in training and leading the matches.

“He doesn’t leave anything to chance, young coaches really can learn a lot from him.”

Dudu has scored two and assisted two in eight league appearances for Shakhtar this season. Not bad.
