Arsenal have confirmed that Mathieu Debuchy thinks his injury is ‘severe’ as his bad luck continues.

Making his first start for Arsenal for around a year, the Frenchman was handed a chance to put himself in the shop window ahead of the January transfer window opening but instead found himself back in the treatment room after just 16 minutes.

Speaking to the media, Arsene Wenger said, “Mathieu is worried it’s a severe one but I have to speak to our medical staff first.”

Debuchy has been trying to get out of Arsenal for around two years now, but every time he gets close to a chance to leave, something in his body stops working.

Arriving at Arsenal in 2014, the right-back has made just 13 Premier League appearances for the Gunners – including this one against Bournemouth.

In total, he has 23 Arsenal appearances.
