Petr Cech was interviewed post-match at Old Trafford and gave a glowing reference to Olivier Giroud.

The Frenchman came to the rescue with a late goal to salvage a point at Old Trafford in an average team performance and the Czech goalie was full of praise on French TV.

The Arsenal goalkeeper clearly values the centre forward’s contribution to the team either as starter or as a substitute. After all, Giroud is a selfless team orientated forward whose contribution is not limited to goals but also to the overall build up and linking play, as well as his defensive duties.

“From time to time, people don’t give enough credit to Olivier. He works hard for the team, he is very useful when he starts a game but he is also very useful if he comes on as a sub. he can make the difference. I think he is a very important player for us. And he showed again today that even if he was not starting the game he was ready [to make an impact].”
