Mesut Ozil may have stolen all the headlines on Tuesday night with his wondergoal against Ludogorets, but the press in Scotland are claiming that Celtic’s Scott Brown is better than the German.

Yes. Scott Brown. Better than Ozil.

Since I first saw the post this morning on the Daily Record website, they’ve added a little more info to their link on the main football page.

It did just say BETTER THAN OZIL but they’ve made it look like this now:

The stats they are using are simple passing ones, which is a decent metric on its own but certainly not one that can be used to assess which player is better.

Besides, it’s Brown v Ozil.

The world knows who is better and the fact that it is Shkodran Mustafi who is second on the list they are using tells you all you need to know about the whole thing, really.

Are we also saying that Mustafi is better than Ozil too?

Don’t get me wrong, Brown’s passing stats are impressive.

He totalled 94% (68) in Celtic’s 7-0 drubbing by Barca, 91% (44) as they drew 3-3 with City, 96% v Gladbach in the first leg and an amazing 99% in the return fixture on Tuesday night.

But still…better than Ozil?

Can Brown do this…
