Hector Bellerin says he’s proud to have signed a new contract with Arsenal.

On Monday afternoon, the 21-year-old announced his new deal via a livestream on Arsenal’s Facebook page and made Arsenal fans’ week.

After murmurings of Manchester City being interested and former club Barcelona breathing down his neck, it was about time that we extended his deal, which was due to run out in 2019.

It’s thought that the deal is for another six/six-and-a-half years, which obviously will start from now and not when his former contract runs out, and should earn him around £100,000. A very decent payrise indeed.

Thankfully, the rightback seems over the moon with his decision, taking to Twitter to tell his 624,000 followers about how Arsenal is his home, and how proud he is to be staying.

He claims he never thought about leaving.

Here’s to many more successful years, he says.

I second that.
