Hector Bellerin are has finally spoken about his future at Arsenal and admitted that he’s in no rush to extend his contract in north London.

Apparently, he’s comfortable enough and happy so he doesn’t feel the need to right now.

The right-back has been linked with moves to his former club, Barcelona, and Manchester City since the beginning of the season but he seems adamant that he’s staying in north London for the time being.

The Catalans made their plans to attempt to sign the 21-year-old very clear when Barcelona vice president, Jordi Mestre, rolled out the ‘Barca DNA’ trope.

“We’ve already seen him as a Cule! He’s a great player, there’s no doubt about that,” Mestre said back in September.

“Arsene Wenger convinced him to move in 2011 and promised him something which we couldn’t.

“We could not promise him that within two years he would be playing in Dani Alves’ place.”

After this, many of us were praying that Bellerin wouldn’t turn into Cesc 2.0.

Fortunately, the young Spaniard appears to be a very different person to Cesc. Outside of the training ground he seems to hang around with the English boys and even has a cockney accent. Whereas Cesc always remained close to his Catalan friends and it always felt as if he had one eye turned in their direction. With Hector, at least for me, it doesn’t feel like that.

“It’s nice for a player to know that big teams want you but I’m very happy here,” Hector said.

“I’ve still got three years left on my contract so I’m just focused on playing every single week, improving and hopefully making things happen here at Arsenal. I’m not in a rush to extend the contract. I’m happy. I’m comfortable. I want to be here a long time.”

Does this mean Hector will stay at Arsenal forever? I don’t know. But at least we’re safe for the moment.
