Hector Bellerin will reportedly sign a new Arsenal deal within the next two weeks after the player publicly declared his desire to remain with Arsenal.

The talented Spaniard, who has developed significantly in the senior side over the past two seasons, also denied suggestions he’d dream about playing on a regular basis at the Nou Camp.

As quoted by the Standard, Bellerín said: “If I wanted to play there [Barcelona] I would have stayed there.

“I was very happy when Arsenal showed interest in me and I decided to come here. I’m not looking back, I’m just looking to help Arsenal.”

Those words will mean a lot to the Arsenal faithful, not least due to the tireless rumours over the past few months which continue to rumble about Bellerín’s long-term future at the club.

As an attack-minded full-back blessed with explosive acceleration, it’s understandable to see why other top sides across Europe would be interested in the youngster’s services, should he become available.

At one point a price-tag of £30m was being thrown around and with three years left on his contract, he also said he’s “not in a rush” for an extension, as he’s comfortable and wants to be at the club for a long time. This didn’t stop the tabloids over the weekend reporting that a new deal would be agreed within the next fortnight.

Despite all of the praise for his excellent performances, as well as his impressive development, Bellerín remains level-headed.

He added, “I’m only 21, so there’s many more things still to improve. The ceiling is so high. I just need to keep learning and improving. You can take the praise on board but you can’t believe it too much or you’ll relax and stop working. I’ll continue doing the same thing I’ve done through my whole career. Learning, analysing every game and hopefully improving.”
