Arsenal are reportedly in talks to bring Gary Lewin back to the club.

Lewin worked for Arsenal as first-team physio for 22 years before leaving in 2008 to join the England national team, leading to his cousin, Colin, taking over at the club.

Lewin was largely credited with saving Edurado’s foot after the Crozilian was hacked in two by Martin Taylor. He also helped John Terry, who swallowed his tongue when Abou Diaby kicked him in the face. It is possible that he saved the Chelsea captain’s life.

It is not clear yet in what capacity Lewin would return, should that be the end outcome.

Lewin joined Arsenal when he was just 16, arriving at the club as a goalkeeper. He became the reserve-team physio when he was just 19. Training at Guy’s Hospital School of Physiotherapy between 1983 and 1986, Lewin returned to Arsenal in 1986 where he remained before leaving to take the England job.

He currently holds a BSc (hons) in Biology, a Diploma in Physiotherapy, is a Member of the College of Sports Physiotherapists, and is a State Registered Physiotherapist.

It’s also worth noting that Lewin is regarded as an expert on hamstrings.
