Arsenal (and Liverpool) are reportedly still hot on the heels of Rennes winger, Paul-Georges Ntep.

The 24-year-old, who’s out of contract at the end of the season (though some say 2016), has assisted four goals in nine Ligue 1 appearances this season and is highly rated. Although it appears that Arsenal, Liverpool and, at one point, Southampton, are the only teams really interested in securing him.

Our apparent interest in Ntep is relatively new. We were first linked in October and since then he’s actually acknowledged that he may have to leave Rennes. Although it’s believed that they do want to tie him down to a new contract soon.

“Today, nothing is signed,” Ntep said back in October.

“I have not been heeded because I leave that to my agent and I do not mind.

“But it does not make me worry.

“If I have to continue [at Rennes], I will extend my contract.

“If I have to leave in January, I will leave in January.”

Ntep can play on either wing and although he prefers it on the left, this could be useful at Arsenal.

It’s interesting to note that Joel Campbell, who’s currently on loan with Sporting, also plays on the left and just so happens to be the same age. The Costa Rican has really struggled to get game time since joining Arsenal (when he’s not been on loan) so it does appear that Arsene Wenger could be willing to say goodbye.

Ntep most likely wouldn’t set us back a lot of cash, considering his contract situation and willingness to leave Rennes.

We’ll have to wait and see.
