Arsenal and Juventus are still being linked with Atalanta midfielder, Franck Kessie.

The 19-year-old was first linked with Arsenal back in September when our scouts were reportedly in the stands watching him play against Palermo.

Kessie’s agent then confirmed that the Gunners were keeping an eye on his client, saying:

“They [Arsenal] were here in Italy to watch him. Arsenal are a good team but there are a lot of teams interested in him, so they’re not the only possible destination.”

Juventus were also said to be readying a €10m bid, while Manchester United were linked.

Well, the rumours haven’t gone away as Arsenal and Juve are still being linked by the Italian media. Although they appear to be pointing the finger at the English press for starting the rumour, if it’s spread over to Italy, it’s likely got some weight behind it.

The Ivorian has scored four goals in 10 Serie A appearances this season so far; although these all came during the opening three games, he’s cooled off a little since then. He’s highly rated and therefore there’s every possibility that we’re interested.

However, not long ago, Kessie’s coach at Atalanta, Gian Piero Gasperini, had high praise for the midfielder, making it seem as if he won’t let the teenager leave without a fight:

“Technically he has a good foundation and an impressive physical dominance. I guess he can play one day at a big club.

“This is because there is a need for players with his physicality, the Italian teams in do not suffer tactically or technically, but physically. In other leagues there is greater intensity.

“In Italy we have lost the taste for the game in trying to catch up with the gap in athleticism.

“Kessie, in this sense, can become an important player because he has everything.”

Well well well.
