Alexis Sanchez has revealed that he prefers football in the Premier League because it’s more exciting to watch.

Speaking to ESPN Brazil [via Sport Witness] the Chilean spoke about the intensity of Arsenal’s recent 1-1 draw against Spurs at the Emirates. He was, of course, talking about the fans and not the Gunners’ performance, which was pretty lacklustre in parts.

He went on to describe playing football for Arsenal in the Premier League, comparing it with Barcelona.

“Truth is that football here [in the Premier League] delights me,” he said.

“To go and go back, to attack, defend, attack, defend. We like it and it’s also good to watch.”

Of course, Arsenal are paying his wages so he’s going to say he prefers it. However, it does bode well that he seems pretty happy where he is.

Something else the 27-year-old touched upon was his desire to constantly play, no matter how fit – or unfit – he may be.

“[Wenger] told me to rest, but I don’t like to rest. Neither in the matches. I don’t like to be out, I get upset, I go home sad, because I train to play, I rest to play. It’s my job and I do everything to perform at 100%.”

Alexis’ contract in north London expires in 2018 and we’re yet to agree a new deal with him. Although there’s been some positive news on the Mesut Ozil front, it’s all pretty quiet from Alexis’ side.

Hopefully, we can tie him down. Alexis is easily one of our star players and we’re a far better team when he’s on the pitch.
