Alexis Sanchez has spoken about the impending clash between Arsenal and Tottenham on Sunday and insisted that the Gunners have to win it for the fans.

Since signing for Arsenal in 2014, the Chilean has experienced five north London derbies. Out of those five, we’ve won two and drawn three.

The forward even scored in the 76th minute during last season’s 2-2 draw at White Hart Lane, saving us the point.

Despite admittedly not knowing what to expect from his first north London derby, the 27-year-old now claims to understand exactly what it not only means to the club but to the fans. This, he says, is why Arsenal need to win.

“Absolutely [yes, fans do come up to me and say to win this game], it’s a game that they want to see us win at all costs,” Alexis said to Arsenal Player.

“They’re a massive rival. My team-mates and I will leave everything on the pitch.

“The Arsenal fans are amazing supporters and that really helps me to perform well and want to give them something to celebrate.”

Arsenal currently sit three points head of Spurs in the Premier League table. A win will not only keep us breathing down Manchester City’s necks since we’re only below them on goal difference, but it’ll put six points between us and our north London rivals.
