With Aaron Ramsey’s contract with Arsenal coming to an end in June 2018, the Welshman is already beginning to be linked with other clubs.

‘So it begins’, is probably what most Arsenal fans are thinking right now but at least it’s not exactly a surprise.

Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing the 25-year-old for €30m, despite his lack of playing time this season due to his hamstring injury. In total, he’s only managed 174 minutes in four appearances, although he’s still managed two assists.

What doesn’t help is the fact that Rambo did that interview back in May yammering on about how he wants to play in La Liga one day, which maybe wasn’t the wisest decision since he’s shown the footballing world that he doesn’t really feel that much affiliation with Arsenal.

“Barcelona play football very well and at Arsenal we want to do the same,” he told Marca.

“I’ve said it before: I would to play in La Liga one day, at one of the big clubs.

“I watch the league every week. It suits my style. Maybe I will [move] someday, who knows what will happen in the future?”

He’d just as soon jump ship to a bigger club. And while I can’t mark him down for being honest (it’s not like Arsenal are his boyhood club or anything) we did stand by him through the difficult years following his terrible injury. By saying he’d move to a top European team effectively rings the dinner bell and makes our position in negotiations weaker.
