Mauro Icardi’s agent/wife, Wanda Nara, has apparently revealed that Arsenal (and Spurs) were interested in the Inter Milan striker over the summer, along with just about every other club in Europe.

While Icardi maintained that he wanted to stay with the Serie A club, at the heart of the drama was his wife, football agent, Wanda Nara. She made it very clear that her client wanted more money and if Inter weren’t willing to give it, he had plenty of other options.

Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, Nara claimed that Spurs made an approach. However, they went directly through the club.

“Piero Ausilio (Inter sporting director) had asked me to take any offers from clubs to him, so I went with those of PSG, Napoli and Juventus,” she said.

“There was Tottenham too but they went directly to Piero.”

Do we believe this? Agents to tend to bend the truth… or fabricate it. Icardi has his new contract, which takes him up until 2021 so, in theory, she shouldn’t need to make anything up. However, I’m not totally convinced that Arsenal were ever interested in Icardi; Nara doesn’t actually specify Arsenal as one of the clubs – The Express‘ report fills in the gaps.
