Theo Walcott, Alexis Sanchez, Shkodran Mustafi and Mesut Ozil both got minutes for their respective countries on Tuesday evening, while Wojciech Szczesny, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Kieran Gibbs were unused substitutes.

Walcott got a good run around during England’s uninspiring 0-0 draw against Slovenia until he was substituted in the 62nd minute for Crystal Palace’s Andros Townsend.

The Ox and Gibbs just sat on the bench but, to be fair, they were probably just happy to be there at this point.

Likewise, Woj played second fiddle to former Arsenal teammate, Swansea goalkeeper, Łukasz Fabiański, in Poland’s 2-1 win over Armenia.

Although, this was hardly a surprise since he now appears to have been permanently dropped. The 26-year-old hasn’t played a game for his national side since their opening 1-0 win over Northern Ireland at Euro 2016.

Alexis featured in Chile’s 2-1 win over Peru. Both Chile goals came from Arturo Vidal.

Mesut Ozil played the first half for Germany in their 2-0 win over Northern Ireland. He was quick to reassure fans afterwards that he wasn’t taken off because he was injured.

Mustafi also came on as a sub in the 69th minute.
