As if we didn’t already know, The Mirror have published a piece on the best playmakers ever to grace the Premier League and, guess what? Mesut Ozil tops it.

As The Mirror points out, the German has racked up 33 assists in 89 appearances, which obviously isn’t the most assists in the Premier League ever (some bloke from Manchester United got that) but his assist-per-game ratio is the highest. 0.37 per game. And that’s considering he’s been ‘off the boil’ so far this season.

You may also like to know that this is above Eric Cantona (0.36) and Cesc Fabregas (0.33).

Forgetting the general sarcastic tone of the piece itself, written by Richard Innes, it does go to show how important the former Real Madrid man is to our team.

This doesn’t even take into account the work he does off the ball, his ‘pre-assists’ and what just having him in the side does to our attack.
