I’ll make something perfectly clear here – I don’t like Jon Moss.

He is an embarrassment of a referee.

Unfit, overweight and unable to make even basic decisions, he is a liability no matter what game he is in charge off. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying he hates Arsenal.

I do, however, think he hates football.

That can be the only reason he continues despite being completely inept.

Against Swansea, he let a number of clear fouls by Swansea go, notably on Theo Walcott. Fingers in eyes weren’t even given as a free-kick yet Granit Xhaka, whom we all expected to see yellow, was given a straight red.

What was he thinking?

The foul is late, there is absolutely no denying that.

But it wasn’t high.

It wasn’t dangerous.

And it didn’t deny a clear goal scoring opportunity.

The only thing I can think is that Moss saw it as a clear kick on the player, but it wasn’t.

It was a trip.

It was the type of foul we see every week, and we see it punished with a yellow.

It’s the type of foul we have often complained about, as Arsenal fans, that our players do not indulge in more, as our opponents do against us.

Take the hit, take the yellow, move on.

I’ve been a football supporter for 38 years and I’ve seen many strange decisions, and this is one of them. I had zero expectation that anything other than a yellow would follow Xhaka’s foul.

I can’t understand people, especially Arsenal fans who argue this is a red.

After the match, Arsene Wenger said it was a ‘dark yellow’ challenge, but I don’t know. For me, it was a yellow.

Plain and simple.

To add even more ridiculousness to a stupid situation, Xhaka will now serve a three-match ban.

That’s the same number Shawcross sat out when he broke Aaron Ramsey’s leg.
