Reports from Italy claim that Juventus are hopeful of securing Santi Cazorla’s signature when the winter window opens.

Cazorla , 31, has a contract with Arsenal until next summer but a new one has yet to be offered by the club which is seriously concerning given his importance to the side.

The Italian, site, Calciomercato News, claims that Juventus are forging plans to get the Spanish midfielder. They get their report from Calciomercatoweb, who get theirs from the Daily Star, who probably got theirs from an earlier report on one of those two Italian sites.

The idea is that Cazorla will sign a pre-contract in January with the Italian champions allowing him to move for free in the summer.

Cazorla has also not ruled out a return to Spain but has said recently that his first preference would be to sign a new deal with Arsenal and remain in London.

Santi is currently sidelined with an ankle injury. At the time of writing, we have no idea how long he is expected to be out for.

If I had to guess one way or another, I would think that Arsenal will offer Santi a new two-year deal and he will sign.

Why they can’t just sort it out now, however, is something I have no answer to.
