After his comments on Sunday that he might think about leaving Arsenal at the end of the season for more playing time, it took the press less than 24 hours to ‘find’ some clubs that would allegedly be interested in buying Alex Oxalde-Chamberlain.

Valencia and Sevilla, the press claimed, would be all too happy to take the 23-year-old to Spain at the end of the season.

Leaving aside the fact that Arsene Wenger has told the Ox that his future lies with Arsenal, not least because of the money they have spent on his development during the five years he’s been at the club, are Sevilla or Valencia even looking to purchase players for his position?

It doesn’t seem likely.

Valencia have Nani, Santi Mina, Cancelo and Munir who can all play in that position while Sevilla are overloaded as well.

So, if not on the wing, perhaps they want him for the centre of their midfield?

Would he start ahead of Nasri, Vazquez, Sanabria, Vietto, or Kranevitter? Would he swap the bench in London for a warmer one in Spain?

It wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world to send him out for a season on loan like we’ve done with Jack, but that seems unlikely at this point.

These are also unlikely to be the last rumours we hear given that the Ox opened the tabloid door, but I wouldn’t expect any of them to amount to anything.
