Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain revealed that he hopes his decent performance against Reading on Tuesday night will earn him some more game time in other competitions.

The Ox has always been incredibly articulate in interviews. He’s able to come across as intelligent and level-headed without his answers seeming too rehearsed. He’s also diplomatic while still being able to inject his opinion.

Speaking after his brace against Reading in the EFL Cup, the forward admitted that he would like more game time but, of course, he’s happy with getting any time on the pitch under his belt.

“Yeah, I hope so [my Reading performance can influence team selection],” he said.

“Any game that I play in is an opportunity for me to show what I can do. And whether it’s the league, the Champions League, the League Cup or the FA Cup – it’s all important. First and foremost, it’s all game time and it’s good to get your confidence up and to try and play the way you want to play and it’s still a very good standard of football.

“Reading are a good team, so for me personally, any chance I get to play is an opportunity for me to show and hopefully that form will carry over into the league and be rewarded with more starts.”

The 23-year-old is obviously aware that he’s improving but isn’t willing to try his luck. However, if he continues the way he is, Arsene Wenger should have another option going forward, which will be useful to have.

The Ox has now scored three goals in three appearances as well as in both EFL Cup ties. Hopefully, he can continue to impress.
