Shkodran Mustafi claims there’s no point in Arsenal getting too far ahead of themselves after beating Swansea 3-2 on Saturday.

The German argues that thinking too far ahead could actually hinder their form as they’ll become too wrapped up in the future rather than the present.

“I think there’s no point in thinking too far ahead. We just need to think day after day and game after game,” he said.

“We’re going to have a tough game on Wednesday as well, so we have to be prepared for that game.

“Sometimes when you think too far in the future, you forget about the present and then you lose points. That’s what we don’t want to do.”

Mustafi does have a point. After all, we don’t want to be like Spurs, gloating after just seven games played, only to get overtaken by their bitter rivals on the eighth.

As fun as it is to dream, there’s a long ol’ road to meander down and although it’s looking sunny right now, we’re Arsenal, so I’m sure storm clouds are just over the horizon.

The next match comes against Ludogorets in the Champions League on Wednesday. Now, all we should be doing is focusing on the next game. Take each day as it comes. Hopefully, this way we can put less pressure on ourselves and continue as we are.
