Arsenal breezed past Ludogorets on Wednesday night, and even though they still managed to pose a number of questions, we found out that the answer to every one of them is ‘Mesut Ozil’

The football was sublime at times from the hosts, the best of Wengerball that could have seen Arsenal easily reach double figures had they been bothered about getting out of second gear.

At the back, however, there were cracks the size is canyons that were only closed by some fine saves from David Ospina, the best of which he made with his face as Ludogorets offered more of a threat than many anticipated.

It wasn’t like they hadn’t told us they were going to attack. In fact, before the game they used those exact words. They didn’t come to London as the Champions of their country to park any buses and that’s to their credit.

They probably don’t feel it was the right decision when they look at the scoreline, though.

It was a night of quite stunning goals.

First Alexis did this

Then Theo did this

The Ox made it three despite generally having another stinker

Mesut Ozil couldn’t resist another

And then another

And his hattrick

It was his first ever professional hattrick.

Amazing.

It’s clichéd but this was very much a game of two halves, with Ludogorets blown away in the second after what we can assume were stern words from Wenger and Co. at the break for swallowing stupid pills before the first.

Concentration could still be an issue this season, but it feels almost churlish to moan about anything after watching Arsenal perform so well at the top of the pitch.

Midfield threw up some problems as well, but those are discussions for another day.

The win keeps us top of the group and unlike many Champions League group games that have gone before, did not take too much out of the players. The one concern will be Santi Cazorla, taken off before the hour mark and seen having his ankle strapped and iced.

Watching this Arsenal is fun

We still get the heart vomits, but they aren’t as frequent and what is happening at the other end means that we don’t pay for them as heavily.

23 goals in our last 7 games and life is rosey.

Til the next crisis.

Obviously.

We Arsenal fans are nothing if not changeable, after all.
