Laurent Koscielny has spoken about what Arsene Wenger has done for him since signing for Arsenal in 2010 and it’s actually pretty moving.

The defender, who we signed from Lorient six years ago, recognises what is took for Wenger to bring him to Arsenal.

Noone knew who he was and the boss got a lot of stick for signing some unknown French defender.

It got worse before it got better.

In 2011, Arsenal faced Birmingham in the Carling Cup final and in the dying minutes, a mixup between Kos and Wojciech Szczesny allowed the Brummies to walk away with the trophy.

Since then, Kos has become easily one of the best centrebacks in the world with the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich reportedly knocking at our door.

Despite all this, the Frenchman recognises who made him.

“I am in the French national team and at Arsenal thanks to the boss,” he told L’Equipe [via GFFN].

“It was he who brought me here. It was he who had the balls to buy me from Lorient when I was nobody. It was my first year in Ligue 1, at an average club in Ligue 1. He took a punt on me for a club like Arsenal which is one of the biggest 10 clubs in Europe.

“He took a risk in bringing me here, to make me progress and grow as a player and a man. I will be grateful my entire career.”

I don’t know a single Arsenal fan who doesn’t love Kos. He’s definitely a player Wenger can be proud of discovering.
