Kieran Gibbs has been drafted into the England squad by Gareth Southgate after Ryan Bertrand was forced off during the Three Lions 2-0 win over Malta.

Gibbs has not featured for England since 2015 and his call-up comes despite only having played 37 minutes of Premier League football this season.

The left-back will meet up with the squad before they travel to Ljubljana for their game against Slovenia on Tuesday.

First reports claim that Ryan Bertrand has suffered a hamstring pull.

Theo Walcott started the game against Malta but it seemed to largely pass him by.

Whether it was due to the Liverpool and Tottenham men ignoring him or Theo struggling to work out what they were doing, he looked lost for a large part of the 68 minutes he was on the pitch.

It was certainly not the Theo we’ve been seeing in an Arsenal shirt this season.
