Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain said he wasn’t surprised by Mesut Ozil’s superb finish against Swansea on Saturday as the German ‘plays like that all the time.’

Still to register an assist this season (as the media keep hammering on about), Ozil netted his third premier League goal of the season to celebrate his 28th birthday. And what a goal it was!

His connection with Alexis’ cross was sweeter than a sugar-coated sugar stick and a perfect example to everyone of how to watch a ball to ensure you meet it with control, precision and power.

“These two [Ozil and Alexis] do it all the time,” the Ox said on Goals on Sunday. “They’re always looking to link up with each other.

“Alexis has found him brilliantly there but that volley is just out of this world.

“His technique is second to none.

“He just plays like that all the time so I’m not really surprised to see that from Mes at all to be fair.”

Although he hasn’t registered an assist in the league, it’s not for the want of trying from Ozil.

He’s set up 18 chances so far in just seven games.

It doesn’t really seem fair to hold him responsible for the failure of others to finish.
