Two years after joining Rennes from AJ Auxerre, Paul-Georges Ntep could be set for a departure this January and Arsenal’s name is back in the mix when it comes to clubs interested in signing him, allegedly.

Arsenal were heavily linked with the player before he moved in 2014, with some outlets claiming that a deal was very close before he ultimately ended up moving to Rennes for £4.25m.

Signing a contract until 2016 according to a report in France [others say it runs until 2017, and reports at the time he signed for Rennes said it was believed to be a three-year deal], the French side are keen to tie him down to a new deal but the 24-year-old is leaving the negotiations to his agent with seemingly no preference for what happens.

“Today, nothing is signed,” Ntep said about a possible new contract at his current club

“I have not been heeded because I leave that to my agent and I do not mind.

“But it does not make me worry.

“If I have to continue [at Rennes], I will extend my contract.

“If I have to leave in January, I will leave in January.”

Ntep has one assist in six Ligue 1 games this season.

Liverpool and Southampton are also said to be interested in the right-footer who can play on the right but prefers it on the left.
