Arsenal continue to be linked with Mauro Icardi following Inter Milan vice-president, Javier Zanetti’s reaction to the fans’ vitriol towards the striker.

As we’ve already reported, Icardi isn’t in the fans’ good books after claiming to have confronted an Inter Ultra over taking away a child’s shirt he’d given them following a game. The Ultras, a distinctly… passionate… sector of fans, have vehemently denied this and made their disdain for Icardi abundantly clear.

They’ve unfurled banners, cheered when he missed a penalty and seem hell-bent on pushing him out of the Serie A club.

Now, Inter’s vice-president has sided with the fans and turned on the 23-year-old, branding his behaviour as unacceptable.

“Will we be taking action? Unfortunately yes. The fans are the most important element, they accompany us and we all should respect them,” Zanetti told Mediaset Premium.

“We cannot accept this behaviour from a person who works for our club. After this match we will talk things over and see what happens.

“Will we remove the captain’s armband? We’ll talk about it later, but this is an issue not just for Icardi, but for everyone who is part of the club. Behaviour must be in line with the values of the history of Inter.”

Could this be the beginning of the end of Icardi at Inter?

Perhaps but I don’t see where Arsenal have to come into this.

We were linked over the summer, he was too much, and now he’s signed a brand new contract with the Italian side so how are we supposed to magically afford him now?
