Eddie Howe was speaking after Bournemouth’s draw with Tottenham on Saturday and the Cherries manager was full of praise for Jack Wilshere who completed 90 minutes for the first time in living memory.

“Our gameplan was to disrupt their rhythm and their normal way of playing,” Howe said.

“The players delivered an incredible physical performance with a real work rate, desire and endeavour – which are words we always talk about.

“Jack was excellent today, first and foremost defensively where he supported Callum Wilson with some unseen work, winning second balls and doing the niggly things well.

“With the ball he gained more influence as the game went on, his performance warranted the 90 minutes and his performances are improving, he will only get better.”

While it is easy to be overly critical of Wilshere at times it is worth remembering that he will need a run of games, not just a few months, to get back to his best.

That he has finally completed 90 minutes is hopefully good news providing he doesn’t suffer for it.

Tweeting after the game, the midfielder said,

Bournemouth are unbeaten at home in the League since their opening day lose against Manchester United.
