Jack Wilshere missed an absolute sitter for Bournemouth at the weekend but his teammate, Andrew Surman, has been praising the Arsenal man as he looks to get back to full fitness.

“You can see Jack is a class player, little touches and little things he does,” Surman said.

“On another day against Watford he could have had a hat-trick. He’s great to play with. Give him the ball anywhere on the pitch and he will create something.

“He’s a great addition to our squad and he is getting that fitness back slowly but surely.

“He’s not lacking confidence; he is playing really well. It would have been nice for him to score against Watford and he deserved a goal.

“The main thing for him is fitness. He’s always had that ability, that’s not in question, it’s just his fitness at the moment.

“He’s played another good chunk of the game this weekend and he is working his way there.

“But he is getting there on the fitness. He would probably say he could have played 90 today and it’s just working him back in slowly, don’t overdo it and risk injury.

“He’s looking fit and sharp and he is getting sharper, it is just keeping that going.

“It’s a massive lift to have someone of that stature and quality in the dressing room.”

Wilshere’s miss was quite something:

But the funniest thing of the whole saga was the reaction of the Spurs fans, acting like Dele Alli is some sort of infallible football god who has never had to come back from a fraction of the problems Jack has suffered.

Sometimes, you don’t really need words to show them how stupid they are:
