The 1st of October 2016 marks 20 years of Arsene Wenger.

There was only one obvious choice for this month’s wallpaper ‘star’. In September 1996, Arsenal’s board made the best decision ever and decided to employ a relatively unknown French manager, Arsene Wenger, as the new leader of Arsenal FC. And, as the line on the wallpaper says, the rest is history.

I’m not going to go deep into what I think about Wenger or what some other Gooners think of him. I’m just going to say, Arsene Wenger deserves massive respect for everything he has done over this 20 years, not only for Arsenal but for football in general. Arsene’s Arsenal is the only Arsenal I know and I am eternally grateful.

Okay, back to 2016.

The month of October, again, has a lot of matches, and three different competitions – it’s going to be busy. The start is relatively easy. Arsenal are traveling to Burnley, and it’s fair to say I expect three points from that trip. After this, there’s an international break. Again.

When our players get back from the World Cup Qualifiers, healthy or not, they will have four relatively easy home matches in a row. First we welcome Swansea, a tricky fixture over the last few seasons but it has been changing and I expect a win here.

After that, it’s time for the Champions League, and the weakest opponent from our group: Ludogorets. The Bulgarians are relatively unknown to us fans but I think it’s ridiculous to get anything but an easy win here. But, you never know with Arsenal, right?

Next up we have Middlesbrough in the League, another must win match against a weaker opponent. And just three days later Arsenal face Reading at home in the EFL Cup. Hopefully it will be less a nerve-racking match than last time we met in a cup competition (7-5 win!) but with the same outcome. The month ends with a trip to Sunderland.

As I mentioned, the wallpaper is all about Wenger this month, the man deserves it and I just hope I did a good enough job.
