We all know that Laurent Koscielny loves a goal, but did you know that he’s scored more Premier League goals than Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Jack Wilshere combined?

No? Me neither.

The centreback has found the net 17 times in the league while The Ox and Jack have managed 13 between them (8/5).

To save me doing the maths, a kind Redditor, blushingorange, did them for me so we can see the stats adjusted for games started:

  • Koscielny – 187 starts, 0.091 goals/start
  • Ox – 106 starts, 0.075 goals/start
  • Wilshere – 105 starts, 0.048 goals/start

This stat doesn’t really prove anything, and I’m not trying to make any point. I just thought it was quite interesting and highlights how important Kos can be for us, especially when we need an important goal.

Injuries have, of course, disrupted The Ox and Jack’s careers, but I think there is certainly a case to be made that they should both be scoring far more than they do.
