As reports circulate that Arsenal are trying to tie Hector Bellerin down to a shiny, new deal in north London, others claim that the rightback could turn this down in favour of signing for Manchester City or Barcelona.

It was only yesterday (Monday) that we broke down the facts about Bellerin’s rumoured new contracted with Arsenal. We pointed out that, contrary to headlines, the likelihood of us offering the 21-year-old a new contract to fend off interest from other clubs was more than a little bit silly. He’s a world class defender, why wouldn’t we want him to stay purely for that reason?

Now, The Times is claiming that the Spaniard wants to be ‘reunited’ with Pep Guardiola at City since they apparently ‘crossed paths’ while he was in Barcelona’s youth system.

The issue is, this isn’t the impression Bellerin has given. In fact, he appears to be happy with Arsenal and not at all ‘tempted’ to leave.

Of course, he could completely blind-side us and sign for our rivals but I personally can’t see that happening.

Barcelona, as usual, are also reportedly interested.
