Reported Arsenal and Manchester City target, Sime Vrsaljko, claims that he has no intention of leaving new club Atletico Madrid despite lack of game time.

The defender signed for the La Liga club from Sassuolo in the summer, with sources claiming that he snubbed both Manchester City and Arsenal.

Considering he’s been getting hardly any game time this season – just one game, oh dear – the 24-year-old insists he wants to stay with Atletico and fight for his place.

“I’m not thinking of leaving Atletico,” he told El Mundo Deportivo.

“I do not want to talk too much about my situation, of course I want to play more, but things are the way they are.

“It depends on me working hard and showing the coach what I’m worth.”

Oh gosh darn it… another one has slipped through our fingers!

In all seriousness, looking back, there were hardly any reports of a link between us and the Croatian. In fact, if you Google Sime Vrsaljko and Arsenal together, this is the main story that comes up, suggesting that perhaps he’s not so dead-set on staying in Spain as he’s trying to say.

I doubt we were really interested but if we were and he’s having a ball sitting on the bench for Atletico, good for him.
