Reports have emerged that Graham Scott was injured after Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Reading, following a refereeing spat with Jon Moss over what is and isn’t a red card.

Moss had allegedly taken umbrage at Scott’s failure to send off Liam Moore after the Royals defender cynically tripped Olivier Giroud as he ran towards goal.

As the pair clashed, Moss was heard to scream that the Reading man had “clearly used excessive force!” presumably referring to the red Moss issued to Granit Xhaka recently which resulted in a three-game ban.

Scott then hit back with an allegation that shocked witnesses, accusing Moss of making his decisions because he was “jealous of the attention Mike Dean and Anthony Taylor receive in the media.”

The two men remained in a standoff for some time, taking it in turns to attempt to dismiss the other by showing them a red card in the most flamboyant and arrogant fashion.

In the end, the matter was settled when Gary Lineker wandered past, and dropped a jaw-dropping “yeah, a yellow would have done” into the conversation.

Moss saw red and uttered the ultimate insult to Scott, stating,“You’re even more unfit than Phil Dowd,” which caused Scott to stumble in shock, hitting his head on Moss’s gut as he fell towards the floor.

Our thoughts are with Mr Scott and his family at this difficult time.
