The Sun rushed to link Arsenal with a move for Mauro Icardi after the player came in for abuse from his own fans, but his agent has rubbished reports that he player will be going anywhere.

A saga that dragged on all summer even though we all knew it was nothing more than an attempt by his agent to get him a better deal where he already was, we thought this story would die for a year or least.

But no sooner had the Inter Milan ultras unfurled their banner, the Sun reporters beavering away on a piece linking him with Arsenal. Again.

Wanda Nara, the player’s wife and agent replied “Absolutely not” when asked if her husband could leave the Italian giants. She added, “He has just renewed his contract for five years, which includes a termination clause of €110m for foreign teams.

“There have been offers from other clubs, but Inter conducted themselves in an incredible way with Mauro. He has always worked hard to stay at the club.”

€110m tells you all you need to know about the likelihood of Icardi ever ending up at Arsenal.
