Jon Moss, who sent Granit Xhaka off for what the footballing universe generally agrees was a yellow card offence, has been demoted to League One this weekend, a common way of PGMOL punishing a ref for a mistake without admitting any liability.

The news makes Arsenal’s decision not to appeal Xhaka’s red card even more confusing, especially as Xhaka is now serving a three-match ban for the offence which was apparently deemed ‘violent conduct’.

Moss will take charge of Sheffield United’s trip to Bradford on Saturday, 3pm kick-off.

If you’re expecting things to be any better this weekend when Boro roll in to town, you won’t be when you realise that Mike Dean will be in charge.

The spiteful little troll has been in extra special form this season and he’s no doubt saving his best for this weekend’s game.
