Mesut Ozil couldn’t wait to get on Twitter (or get his ‘people’ on Twitter) to hail Arsenal’s 4-1 win at Sunderland on Saturday and the team mentality to come back after their equaliser.

Dominating for the entire game, Arsenal found themselves pegged back when Martin Atkinson decided to ignore a stonewall penalty for a foul on Alexis and then point to the spot for Sunderland a few minutes later.

While we can have zero complaints about the kick awarded to David Moyes’ men, we can have plenty about the incident before that which should have handed Arsenal a glorious chance to double their lead. Probably would have missed it, anyway.

But that’s not the point.

Had Ozil brought his shooting boots with him for the first half, it would have mattered less. The German missed two great chances to give Arsenal a comfortable cushion before the break.
