Jack Wilshere has taken to Facebook, apologising to the Bournemouth supporters that travelled to Manchester for their 4-0 defeat against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side.

The midfielder made his first start for the Cherries following his season-long loan switch from Arsenal on deadline day and wasn’t given free roam to create as many opportunities in midfield as he’s used to doing.

The hosts’ counter-attacking brilliance and clinical finishing meant they came out as worthy winners in a 4-0 victory, but Wilshere was one of few players to acknowledge the travelling fans’ support from the south Coast on Saturday afternoon.

Having travelled five hours up to Manchester, Bournemouth supporters left empty handed and despondent seeing their team simply outclassed by one of the league’s best.

In a Facebook status on Sunday afternoon, Jack said the following:

“Tough game yesterday against a great Man City team. We will learn and improve on the performance. Thanks to all the Bournemouth fans who travelled and sorry we couldn’t give you more to cheer about!!”

The post itself received mixed responses, mainly from Arsenal fans and supporters of rival clubs, with some suggested he should hurry back to the Emirates whilst others offered the patient route, so the experiences would help him in the long-run.
