Theo Walcott and Laurent Koscielny spoke to BT Sport immediately after Arsenal’s win against Basel in the Champions League on Tuesday and, just like their boss, they weren’t letting themselves get carried away with the result or the performance.

What has stood out more than anything this season is the new attitude that Theo Walcott is displaying and that has always been his issue – not his ability, but his application.

Speaking to the reporter, Theo said, “We were very professional today.

“I think the intensity was there from the start. It dies off before the end, but I think you can understand that with all these games coming up.

“Again, a cleansheet. We’ve always said if we keep cleansheets…

“This guy standing next to me and his new centreback partnership is just incredible.

“It just shows how far we’ve come, it can’t stop now, we know that.

“This game is going to be forgotten about and we move on to Sunday now.

“I’m just working hard, I’m enjoying my football, that’s all I can say.

“I just try to prove [myself] every day if that’s at home or at work.

“Things are going well but like I say, this will all be forgotten about really, it’s all about the next day.

“Tomorrow we need to recover well and we need to push on. Obviously these games come around thick and fast.

“This side is very strong at the minute and we should be very proud.”

Kos, meanwhile, added, “I think we play like a team, offensively or defensively we did a job well together.

“Often we played together with movement, the speed of passing, it can be unbelievable on the pitch.

“We could see last Saturday and tonight we play well with the ball and it’s difficult for the team against us to win.

“When we defend, it’s not just the back four it’s’ all the players.

“It starts at the front with Alexis. I think he did a great job tonight.

“When one player goes forward another player goes with him and we are better because we win the ball higher and after we can be a danger for the team again.”
