On the face of it, Mesut Ozil looked like he had another off afternoon against Hull, but when you drill down into his performance, the opposite is actually true.

Leading the way (across both teams) in passes and passes completed (104 out of 110), he was showing his silky skills against the Tigers and pulling the strings in his usual, understated manner.

He also led the way on passes in the attacking third (62 out of 68) while also creating two chances and winning the ball back four times.

The touch in the clip below was one of his best on an afternoon that saw Arsenal net four.

If only Hull’s pitch had been a few inches bigger.
