Despite endless criticism from both supporters and media alike of Theo Walcott’s ineffectiveness in the final third over the past two seasons, he netted his 100th career goal in our convincing victory over Hull City on Saturday.

In the post-match interview, he was eager to play down the significance of his 100th career goal – saying that “the three points is the main thing”, especially given the tough fixtures they’ve been tested with in recent weeks.

“We’ve got a lot of great characters in that dressing room and the players that have come in have settled in very well.”

His clean finish from close-range came at the end of a well-worked move on the edge of the area, after playing a one-two with Alex Iwobi, he made no mistake to flick the ball over a helpless Eldin Jakupovic in the Hull goal.

After another trademark strike from the 27-year-old, it was time to pick through his best goals and decide: Which is Walcott’s best?

His individual finish against Chelsea (2011/12 season) was memorable to say the least, leaving the defenders in his wake before slamming home in emphatic style.

Goals against West Brom, Liverpool (both 2014/15) and Manchester City (2015/16) were equally impressive as they were well-taken, but his best for me would definitely have to be his solo burst and finish from a tight angle against Newcastle.

He showed great agility to twist and turn his way past four Newcastle players in the area, being clipped on his heels by Sylvain Marveaux in the process. He had enough momentum to continue his run after a sliding stop to ground, before cooly chipping the ball past the onrushing Tim Krul to complete a fantastic hat-trick in an unforgettable 7-3 home victory.
